Object name: inscribed tombstone
Description: Upper part of a tombstone, much broken across the relief and at the first line of the inscription. A flat-topped gabled frame encloses a round-headed niche hung with two swags. The deceased, a lady, reclines on a high-backed couch with mattress and baluster legs, of which four are shown, in an attempt at perspective which extends to a three-legged table. The lady is clad in a close-fitting long-sleeved tunic, with draped thighs and legs. Her right hand holds a cup aloft, towards which a young child at the edge of the couch stretches an eager right arm. On the left side of the stone, near the frontal edge, are two mason's tools in relief, a hammer and a mason's square.
